Helen Adkins won with a comfortable victory, securing 51.5 per cent of the vote

Labour held their seat in the Leamington Clarendon ward following a by-election on Thursday (May 2).

While all the local election action was taking place in other parts of the county on Thursday and Friday, there was one by-election for a seat on Warwick District Council.

Helen Adkins won the Leamington Clarendon seat with a comfortable victory, securing 51.5 per cent of the vote, with 1,267 votes.

She said: “I want to thank the voters in Clarendon for voting for me to represent them on Warwick District Council.

“I feel honoured that I was the winning candidate, but I know this result is also testament to the work of my fellow councillors, who do so much for the local community and have gained their trust

“As we move forward, I will serve all members of the ward and every member of our community. As part of a strong Labour team, with a Labour MP, I am excited about what we can achieve together.

“I want to thank everyone who voted for me, my supporters and volunteers, and voters who have tirelessly worked to ensure Clarendon is in the best hands.”

Cllr Adkins joins Cllr Jessica Harrison and Cllr Chris King who were elected as district councillor for Leamington Clarendon last May.

  • Helen Adkins (LAB) - 1,267
  • Amanda Dyakov-Richmond (GREEN) - 362
  • Moira-Ann Grainger (CON) - 407
  • John Kelly (LIB DEM) - 365
  • Gerald Smith (UKIP) - 50

Electorate: 7,605

Ballot papers issued: 2,460

Turnout: 32.35 per cent
